For this 2018 I decided to exhibit mainly in collective, and I was lucky enough to be included in a new interesting project: 7 women, 7 artists, 7 stories, 7 lives, 7 different people.
“Mulheres com Arte” is the – temporary? – name that we gave to this collective. We have in common the relation with Beltrão Coelho Gallery, in Lisbon, where we all have had an exhibit and, clearly, a reciprocal innate simpathy.
Our first exhibition opened last Saturday, January 20, in Odivelas, in the famous Centro Cultural Malaposta, which for years has been hosting exhibitions, concerts and theatre performances.
We chose the title “Cala-te, Mulher!” (“Shut-up, woman!”), a sentence that, explicitly or implicitly, all women have been addressed during their life.
“Somos doçura, maternidade, emoção.
Mas também somos luta and campo de batalha.
Para alguns, ainda, pertences.
Para outros, ameaça.
Falamos de nós.”
“We are sweetness, motherhood, emotion.
But we are also struggle and a battlefield.
For some, still, properties.
For others, threat.
We were born women.
We talk about us.”)
“Mulheres com arte” are:
Alice Diniz – Ceramics.
Armanda Alves – Painting.
Clara Ribeiro – Sculpture.
Elena Valsecchi – Painting.
Geny Pitta – Painting
Ildebranda Martins – Installation.
Margarida Marcelino Painting.
And no, we won’t shut-up.
We speak, a lot, with words, works, art.
